The Team
Jessica Verrill, Owner/Trainer/Instructor
I have had the pleasure of working around horses for more than 30 years. Scary how time flies. During that time, I have had the opportunity to learn from and work with some incredible people, attend and graduate from William Woods University and compete on behalf of my country on the United States World Cup team. Throughout it all, I have learned some amazing lessons and watched as those experiences and the horses shaped who I have become.
It is with that mindset that I created Verrill Stables and dedicated myself to creating an environment that welcomed horse enthusiasts of all ages and abilities so that they too could learn as I have. While horse back riding is fun and fulfilling, I fundamentally believe that it can change our lives through:
-
Instilling self-confidence and helping us understand that with patience and respect we can team with our horse
-
Creating extreme self-awareness in how our actions and attitudes affect the horses we work with
-
Developing a rewarding work-ethic that is second to none with horses that rely on us day after day
All lessons that pay huge dividends beyond the walls of the indoor. :-)
I want to thank each and every customer who has come to us over the years in search of those lessons and time with our horses. I so appreciate your interest in horses and desire to experience them with us. If you are considering Verrill Stables for the first time, I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our barn family.
John Kimbal, Barn Manager
John joined the Verrill Stables team in 2010 and quickly became the glue that holds us together. From horse health management to equipment maintenance to hay, grain and shavings deliveries to fixing anything that breaks, John plays a critical role in the day to day operations of the farm.
Working with animals for decades, one of John's greatest skills is his connection with the horses and his ability to recognize when one might be feeling "off". Invaluable in our industry.
Always sporting a smile, John goes above and beyond for our Verrill Stables customers to ensure that their, and their horses, experience with us is a positive one.
As seen here, he already has a new recruit (Trev) in training as a future barn manager himself. :-)
Samantha Pellerin, Trainer / Instructor
Beginning riding lessons at the age of 5, Samantha quickly fell in love with horses. Soon, she got the competitive bug and began showing, leasing and owning Morgan horses. She grew up riding with Cheryl & Tony Marcelonis where she learned all the fundamentals of horsemanship and showing.
After moving to NYC for college, Samantha came home to continue her passion with horses, returning to and working for, CPM Stables. When not at the barn, Sam could be found acting as an extra in movies. Those efforts would earn her roles on major films such as The Town, The Surrogates, Mall Cop, The Proposal and others.
Samantha joined Verrill Stables in 2009 and began growing her talents as a trainer of American Saddlebreds. She takes great pride in helping grow the business by attracting new customers and cultivating lesson students into competitive show clients. She considers Verrill Stables and the team her lifelong family!
Her love for theater and performing has never waned. Participating in musicals and local plays evolved into professionally singing in multiple bands. Today, she is the lead singer of the fastest emerging country act in New England known as Samantha Rae & Whiskey 6. Headlining and opening for multiple national acts such as Locash, Parmalee, Sugar Ray and more.
Samantha’s passion for horses and excitement for life bleeds into her training and teaching. Her biggest accomplishment to date is her son Gunner and his love for animals, just like her!
Kathryn Moughan, Instructor
When my parents took me for my first ride on a horse at age 5, they never would've guessed that I would make it a lifelong passion.
Growing up, I trained under Tammy Levesque and WingedSpur Farm. With many years of training, I began showing at the 4-H level and moving up to breed shows.
I had many wonderful opportunities to work with and show some amazing horses, which led me to work as Tammy’s assistant trainer out of high school.
From there I became more interested in learning about horse psychology and behavior which led me to learn and study natural horsemanship. For years I worked with problem horses and their owners on how to build better relationships.
After taking a few years off to start a family I have been lucky enough to get back to what I love to do, that is to be in the barn and teach. From beginners to advanced riders my enthusiasm as an instructor comes from my students learning, being safe, and having fun.
